Changes to UFAW symposium 2017 speaker line-up

5 June 2017

Sadly Professor Jaak Panksepp (Washington State University, USA) - who was due to give a keynote talk at the symposium - has recently passed away after a short illness. Professor Panksepp, an outstanding neuroscientist, was author of over four hundreds of articles in the fields of physiological psychology, affective neuroscience and neuro-psychoanalysis, and is probably best known for discovering laughter in rats.

In his place, Dr Tom Smulders (Newcastle University, UK) has kindly agreed to speak and will present a talk on Can neuroscience offer new animal welfare measures?

In addition, Professor Sarah Wolfensohn (University of Surrey, UK) and Dr Ngaio Beausoleil (Massey University, New Zealand) have been added to the programme of speakers.

A revised copy of the symposium timetable, Dr Smulders abstract and biography, and details on how to register can be found here
