24-26 June 2025

Online

The 2025 UFAW International Animal Welfare Conference took place online between 24 – 26 June. The virtual format aimed to minimise environmental impact whilst maximising global participation. With over 500 registered delegates representing 63 countries, the 2025 event marked our most internationally diverse conference to date.

The programme featured 46 talks and 2 keynote presentations. Benjamin Ineichen, a past recipient of the UFAW Animal Welfare Research Award, explored the implications of for drug research of the widespread occurrence of post-approval animal studies and the opportunity to implement 3Rs measures more effectively in drug research. Eva Read considered the extent and implications of disagreement among animal welfare researchers about what animal welfare is.

In addition to the talks, the conference programme also included 68 poster presentations. The prize for the best poster was awarded to Marie Roig-Pons for her submission “Enhancing equine welfare: The impact of medical training on compliance and stress in veterinary care”.

Abstracts for all talks and posters are available on this webpage. To watch recordings of the presentations, visit our YouTube channel.
