UFAW Conference announces Programme of Speakers

20 January 2016

RECENT ADVANCES IN ANIMAL WELFARE SCIENCE LATEST

UFAW’s forthcoming one-day conference has once again attracted a diverse and dynamic programme of speakers from the UK, Europe and the USA.

The conference, which is being held at York’s medieval Merchant Adventurer’s Hall on the 23rd of June, features 14 talks on subjects ranging from developing and validating a practical screening tool for chronic stress in livestock and the psychological harm of large-scale commercial breeding practices to adult breeder dogs and puppies, to a history of animal sentience.  There will also be poster sessions featuring over 70 presentations.

Held every other year, this is the 5th conference run by UFAW which brings together scientists, veterinarians, policy makers and others from around the world.  UFAW’s Development Officer, Dr Stephen Wickens said: “The conference provides an excellent forum for all those with an interest in animal welfare, whatever their area of study, to share knowledge, discuss advances and exchange views and ideas.”

To ensure the conference is accessible to as many people as possible, UFAW keeps the cost of attendance as low as possible.
